Our vision
A street where the door is open on the days nothing is scheduled.
What we do every day
Thursdays the hall is open from five, and the table is already set.
We'd host
The warm room in January — doors open and the heat on, whatever else is happening.

What we teach our people
Listen before you fix. Most people are telling you the second thing first.

“They kept the heat on all February and never once asked who I was.” — A NEIGHBOR
A kindness that helped us
Somebody paid the hall rental for a year and we never found out who.
A kindness we give
We left a key with the woman across the street, so anyone who needs the hall at short notice doesn't have to find one of us.
Why we opened our doors
This began when two families started cooking on a Thursday and forgot to stop.
Our house move
Come to the Thursday meal without joining anything, signing anything, or being asked who you are.
Who taught us kindness
A woman named Ruth who set an extra place every single week, in case.
A regular we'd miss
The man who shows up early every time, and has never once been asked to.

A public record of the kindness you already practice — nobody asked to be on it. A²OK filled this card in from what you have already published, so you could see it finished rather than empty. Every marked line and every marked symbol is our guess. We would much rather have yours.
Kindness is an annual plant. It has to be planted every year. We don't sign our acts, but we do sign our commitments. You shouldn't have to say it about yourself. That's what we're here for. A Spark accrues only for an act performed without seeking credit. Every charter member is a light on the map. Not advertising — a place to celebrate the kindness you already practice.
