Why Minnesota
A special kindness arrived in a state like every other state. Why?
An anonymous foundation discovered a kindness civilization from 11,000 years ago. There was no better place to carry it forward than a community that had just lived it. During the 2026 ice storm, the Twin Cities experienced thousands of anonymous acts of kindness, and it transformed our understanding of how individual acts can change a civilization for the better.
What can we learn? And can this city keep doing it on a normal Tuesday, with no storm, no camera, no song playing?
Minnesota shines brightest on this map, and not because it is better. It is simply where the counting began: 1,302 local groups, one constellation, our first charter. See the Metro Sky →

The civilization
We left this here for you.
An anonymous grant carried one instruction: Find what is there. Do not look for who sent you. On an unremarkable island, a sealed vault held 847 clay tablets, a whole civilization's record of what people did for one another. No names on any of them. The first says only: Be kind.
When the vault opened, something left that room and went looking for people to land on. The shooting stars on this map are that.
